Burdock: Be Seen, Be Heard
This piece centers on burdock, a plant whose presence is both striking and purposeful, embodying the quiet power of natural boundaries.
Burdock does not intend to repel, yet through its bold, spiked burrs—designed for seed dispersal—it inevitably creates space. Its hooked forms attach to passing animals, ensuring its seeds are carried forward. In this same mechanism, it protects itself; what allows it to spread also discourages unwanted interference. It is both expansive and self-protective, existing fully in its nature without apology.
This duality reflects a deeper truth within us. Where do we cling, and where do we need to release? Where do we silence ourselves to avoid discomfort, only to create internal inflammation? Burdock reminds us that what is unspoken can build within the body, just as inflammation builds when energy is not allowed to move.
As a tincture, burdock works to reduce inflammation—supporting the body in clearing what has been held too long. Energetically, it mirrors this same process. It invites us to speak clearly, to express what is true, and to trust that in doing so, we naturally create the boundaries we need.
Like burdock, we are not required to harden or defend aggressively. Simply by standing in the fullness of who we are—flamboyant, honest, and rooted—we both protect ourselves and move forward. In this way, we release what no longer serves, carry forward what does, and return to balance within the Earth element.

Series 3: Elemental Equilibrium
“Elemental Equilibrium” explores the four elements—Earth, Water, Fire, and Air—as essential forces of inner balance and transformation.
Each element is examined through its own series of works. Earth is expressed through plant medicine, rock, and crystals, grounding and restoring the body. Water moves through the emotional landscape, supporting release and flow. Fire represents transformation and personal power, while Air brings clarity, breath, and expansion.
Together, these elements reveal the balance between stability, emotion, energy, and thought. When aligned, they guide us back to wholeness.
At its core, this series reflects the connection between the inner and outer worlds—inviting a return to balance, presence, and self-awareness.
